What would happen if aliens came to Earth? The “First Contact” plot-focused campaign places you at the center of a mysterious event that will forever change the course of human history. As specialist Aiden Rudwell, you are a NATO drone operator participating in a military training exercise in Livonia. When a huge alien ship enters the atmosphere, you are sent on a reconnaissance mission to investigate the extraterrestrial presence. The priority: find out who or what they are and why they are here. However, with our very existence at stake, differing interpretations prompted by a site-wide blackout soon prove an inevitable path to conflict. Throughout this campaign, you'll engage in field science, electronic warfare, and combat reconnaissance in an authentic Arma 3-style experience. Arma 3 Contact's 163 km² Eastern European terrain covers the partially abandoned Nadbór region within the large Polish-speaking country of Livonia. This landlocked NATO member state shares borders with four other countries, including the Russian exclave Kaliningrad and CSAT partner Belarus, which in itself makes it a location of great geostrategic importance. Its forest area is made up of a large set of all-new structures, props and natural objects, complemented by objects from other Bohemian terrain.2 FactionsWith the new terrain arrive two new, relatively smaller, yet highly capable military factions. Specifically, the Livonia Defense Force and Russian Spetsnaz. The FDL provides its soldiers with state-of-the-art protective equipment with a “geometric” camouflage design characteristic of forests. These include new uniforms, ballistic vests and advanced modular combat helmets with optional hearing protection and so-called “Spartan sideburns”. Meanwhile, Russian Spetsnaz operators wear a new lightweight two-tone suit, a durable helmet based on the CSAT design, and a breastplate that sports a cross-chest mount for small arms. Each faction is reinforced by new-look variants of existing Arma 3 assets and complemented with new character faces and Polish or Russian radio protocols. 5 Weapons The Contact expansion adds 5 weapons to the Arma 3 arsenal. This modular rifle with bullpup configuration (trigger in front of the magazine) is known for its unique detachable carrying handle with integrated sight, and can be equipped with an under-barrel grenade launcher or a shotgun attachment. There are also two additions to the AK family, mainly used by Russian Spetsnaz. The RPK-12 light machine gun features an unmistakable ammunition magazine with 75 bullets, an elongated barrel, a modified stock and an additional grip. The AKU-12 rifle is a lightweight carbine with a shorter barrel and special muzzle brake. Finally, Livonia's civilian hunting enthusiasts bring weapons of their own. The classic Mk14 hunting rifle is a single-shot version with a walnut stock of the military Mk14; The Kozlice shotgun is a traditional 12-gauge weapon with a break-barrel system capable of firing bullets or buckshot, coming in both a regular and a sawn-off variant.2 VehiclesWelcome to an unlikely pair of new vehicles. The first is the ED-1 Mini UGV (unmanned ground vehicle). This small, tracked electric robot is built to traverse complex terrain, transmitting a live camera signal so its operator can remotely assess the situation. Wielding a multi-jointed rotating arm, the UGV's two main uses are CBRN defense and explosive ordnance clearance. The scientific variant, the ED-1E*, in short, is a laboratory on wheels with sensors, a sampling laser and a biopsy probe. For military use, the ED-1D variant is equipped with an attached disruptive shotgun; It is ideal for demining operations and immediate confrontations. In the opposite field of the vehicle universe is the Tractor.
