The second in a trilogy of DLCs that characterize the entire Second World War from the perspective of the Soviet Union. Red Steel begins in January 1942 with Soviet attacks on Staritsa, still not far from Moscow. During the harsh Russian winter, you'll need to stay on the offensive as the German army reels, until the tide begins to turn again in the spring of 1942. We then make a short detour to the Crimean front, which offers a slightly different challenge. due to its peculiar geographical characteristics. Players will be able to import their main army saved in Red Star to play the new DLC with experienced units and previously unlocked commanders and specializations. SCENARIOSRed Steel has 16 new scenarios, 14 of them on the main campaign path and 2 more in case of a lesser outcome at Stalingrad: 1. Staritsa, January 1942: Continued attacks by the Red Army push the Wehrmacht even further after the Battle of Moscow2 . Toropets–Kholm Offensive south of Demyansk: one of several Soviet winter offensives in early 19423. Battle of the Parpach Narrows: Soviet offensive on the Kerch peninsula on the Crimean Front4. Retreat to Kerch: the player has to defend himself from German attacks and works for the evacuation of Crimea5. Kharkov 1942: The Germans surround large Soviet forces in southern Russia and prepare the ground for renewed advances in the summer6. Voronezh: Depicts a Soviet armored counterattack, as well as fighting for Voronezh in the early stage of Case Blue7. 1st Rzhev Offensive: In Moscow, the Red Army launches one of several costly attempts to recover Rzhev in 19428. Stalingrad: The bitter struggle for the city on the Volga, autumn 19429. Operation Uranus: A pincer movement to defeat Romanian troops in the flanks of the 6th Army create the Stalingrad pocket10. Operation Winter Storm: The player must stop the German relief effort for Stalingrad and defeat Romanian troops at the Chir11 River. Ostrogozhsk – Rossosh Offensive: the later part of Operation Little Saturn against Hungarian and Italian forces, in January 194312. Malaya Zemlya: Soviet naval landings south of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea coast13. Kharkov 1943: The Wehrmacht recovers again after encircling large Soviet formations for the last time in the war14. The two extra scenarios depict Operation Mars, another Soviet offensive to eliminate the Rzhev Salient, and Operation Iskra, intended to open the door to mass aerial combat in the Kuban. a permanent land corridor to the besieged city of Leningrad. Now players can purchase OT-34 flame tanks, T-70 light and KV-1 m1942 heavy tanks, improved 45mm m 1942 AT cannons and the new ZiS-3 field gun which can also be used in a AT paper. In the air, improved aircraft models such as Yak-9D and La-5F fighters, or Il-2M or Pe-2FT tactical bombers will be needed to keep up with the Luftwaffe. But the enemy is also using new equipment: the Germans are receiving improved versions of the Panzer 38 G, Panzer IV G and Bf-110 G. Their Romanian allies employ R-2 tanks and IAR-80 fighters, while the Hungarians are using a derivative of the Italian Reggiane 2000 fighter, named MAVAG Heya, and acquire additional equipment from Germany. Impact of Lend-Lease Aid: To unlock US-made aircraft or vehicles, players can activate various parts of the Lend-Lease program separately. Other options show the development of the Red Army by forming specific shock armies and later guard armies. Lend-Lease aid is playing a bigger role now, as the player can have access to British Hurricane fighters and several US-made warplanes, including P-39 fighters or B-25 bombers. Not only American tanks but also trucks become available in increasing numbers, so they will be cheaper to buy, while US half-rails offer better protection but are not as widespread. New Soviet commanders have also been added and can be unlocked over Red Star by achieving certain objectives.
